Em 1995, Larry Mullen e Adam Clayton se juntaram em Nova Iorque, em uma pausa do U2. Durante esse tempo, eles regravaram em 1996 o tema de 'Mission Impossible' para o primeiro filme do cinema. A trilha sonora do filme contou com duas versões da canção título gravadas por Mullen e Clayton. Um single foi lançado com remixes adicionais dessas duas faixas.
O single e a trilha sonora foram lançados na Europa pela própria gravadora do U2, Mother Records. Em outros lugares, foram lançados pela Island Records. A canção foi para o top 10 nas paradas de todo o mundo, e foi um sucesso definitivo.
